AniFam Watchlist Import: Bring Your AniList or MyAnimeList List Over

Rebuilding a watchlist by hand wastes an evening. AniFam can import a list from AniList or MyAnimeList, so years of planned titles arrive in one move.

Why Import Instead of Rebuilding

A fan who has tracked anime for years may hold hundreds of planned titles. Typing those one by one into a new app takes hours and invites mistakes, with titles misspelled or skipped. Import moves the whole list at once, and the AniFam anime app app then sorts it into watching, on hold, and planned tabs. The imported list is the starting point, not a finished queue.

Before You Import

Open the tracker account first and check that the list is public or at least reachable by the import tool, and tidy the obvious duplicates. A list with the same title entered twice will import twice, so a five minute tidy before import saves a longer tidy after it. Note which titles are marked completed, because those do not need to sit in a planned queue. Related reading on this site covers AniFam on Android TV: Remote Setup From Install to First Episode.

After the Import

Walk the imported list once: move active titles to watching, push paused titles to on hold, and leave the rest in planned. This single pass turns a raw import into a working queue. Add the two or three titles planned for this week to the top of the watching tab, so the home screen answers the nightly question of what to watch next. Keeping the List Honest

An imported list drifts if new titles are added only in one place. Pick one home for the list, either the tracker or the app, and update the other when a series finishes. A weekly two minute check, marking finished titles and moving the next planned title up, keeps the queue short and the choice easy.
